Credit Card Company Invading Your Privacy
I was appalled to learn that the Discover credit card company will begin tracking Americans’ firearm purchases starting in April. This decision is not only an invasion of privacy but also a concerning move towards potential discrimination against law-abiding citizens exercising their Second Amendment rights.
Discover claims that this move is aimed at preventing fraud and protecting its customers from illegal activities. However, it is hard to believe that tracking legal purchases made by responsible gun owners will achieve these goals. Instead, it seems like an attempt to monitor and potentially discriminate against individuals who exercise their constitutional right to bear arms.
Moreover, this decision sets a dangerous precedent for other companies to follow suit and track their customers’ lawful purchases based on personal beliefs or political agendas. It opens the door for potential discrimination against individuals based on their legal activities, which goes against the principles of our democracy.
Furthermore, this decision by Discover could have far-reaching consequences for gun owners who rely on credit cards for everyday purchases. If other companies follow suit and start tracking firearm purchases, it could lead to financial discrimination against law-abiding citizens who choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights.
Note that this isn’t the first company to do so. In September last year, Visa ended up caving into pressure from the liberal left and gun control groups to flag gun and ammo purchases. Mastercard has actually agreed to flag gun sales as well.
It feels like an attack on our personal freedoms and privacy as American citizens for Discover to start tracking our purchases and actually looking for certain things that we buy. I hope that Discover reconsiders this decision and respects the constitutional rights of its customers, but I seriously don’t expect it to happen. Congress is going to have to step in and do something about it and that definitely won’t happen while the Senate is controlled by the Democrats.
