CORRUPTION IN NEW YORK: Former Governor Andrew Cuomo Gets Off the Hook Entirely
Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will be spending some time this skating this winter as he will not be facing any charges for the sexual misconduct he was accused of which led him to be forced out of office.
Cuomo will no longer be facing the judge or a jury because the Albany County district attorney has dropped the charges of sexual assault brought against him last year.
According to the New York Post,
“Albany County District Attorney David Soares announced today that a thorough and independent review of the investigation into the allegations against former Governor Andrew Cuomo has concluded,” the DA’s office said in a statement.
“While many have an opinion regarding the allegations against the former Governor, the Albany County DA’s Office is the only one who has a burden to prove the elements of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. While we found the complainant in this case cooperative and credible, after review of all the available evidence we have concluded that we cannot meet our burden at trial,” said DA David Soares in a statement Tuesday.
“As such we have notified the Court that we are declining to prosecute this matter and requesting the charges filed by the Albany County Sheriff be dismissed.”
If this doesn’t reek of corruption then I don’t know what does.
Oh, but that’s not all. Just last week, other charges were dropped that were being brought against him for kissing a state trooper and another woman by another crooked district attorney.
District Attorney Miriam Rocah said a “thorough investigation” produced “credible evidence to conclude that the alleged conduct in both instances … did occur.”
“However, in both instances, my Office has determined that, although the allegations and witnesses were credible, and the conduct concerning, we cannot pursue criminal charges due to the statutory requirements of the criminal laws of New York,” Rocah said in a prepared statement.
The announcement came less than a week after acting Nassau DA Joyce Smith said “credible” and “deeply troubling” allegations that Cuomo ran his hand across the trooper’s belly at Long Island’s Belmont Park in 2019 were also “not criminal under New York law.”
So the lesson to be learned here is that when you’re a rich and powerful Democrat, you can get away with whatever you want.
