CNN Anchor in Hot Water After Sexist Remarks Live on Air
CNN nutjob Don Lemon has been the focus of ongoing controversy recently following some sexist remarks he made on CNN’s This Morning broadcast and his future on the show may be done, according to a source that spoke with Confider. The source stated that Lemon has become a distraction and when asked about it, a CNN spokesperson denied the reports to Mediaite, saying Lemon was “taking the holiday” due to paparazzi harassment. While they did not confirm if he would be missing from Monday’s show, they did maintain that he had been chased by paparazzi all weekend and was not ready to go back on air.
If you’re not aware of it, this happened during an episode of the show on Thursday when Lemon made an ignorant remark about US Ambassador Nikki Haley’s age being past her prime. His co-host Poppy Harlow noted that this statement would likely create some controversy and asked what he meant by this. Lemon responded that it wasn’t his opinion, but something one could find out via Google search.
In response to the backlash his comments drew, he tweeted an apology for his remarks saying that it was irrelevant and inartful and mentioned how there are countless women in his life who prove that a woman’s age doesn’t define her either personally or professionally. Haley acknowledged this apology timeline in a tweet of her own indicating she was not advocating for competency tests for middle-aged male anchors such as him but instead emphasizing how it is often liberal men who display such sexist behaviors.
To be clear, I am NOT calling for competency tests for Sexist middle-aged CNN anchors; only for people who make our laws and are 75+. https://t.co/wvUNCcNdVt

Liberals can't stand the idea of having competency tests for older politicians to make sure they can do the job.
BTW it's always the liberals who are the most sexist. pic.twitter.com/PzpniQFLff

Chris Licht, CEO of CNN reportedly expressed disappointment towards Lemon’s comments during an editorial call with staff on Friday morning, after which Don himself offered a verbal apology. Despite this effort at damage control however, sources speaking with DailyMail.com described him as rude and self-righteous while adding that his apology meant nothing. This incident follows other inappropriate behavior reported from him recently such as leaving Kaitlin Collins “rattled” after reportedly blowing up at her once their show ended for having interrupted him during their episode last year.
Adding further insult to injury is the fact that ratings for CNN morning shows have seen record lows since its launch with averages of just over 330,000 viewers. Many believe if future episodes continue in such a negative vein, then Don Lemon may end up permanently ousted from his role at the network regardless of ongoing conversations surrounding his future status there.
