There are a number of new restaurants coming into Terminal A at the San Antonio International Airport, and Chick-fil-A was hoping to be one of them.

However, the San Antonio City Council said otherwise. They are actually banning the restaurant from opening up a location inside of the airport.

According to NBC News,

The San Antonio City Council voted recently to block Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant at San Antonio International Airport, citing what it called the company’s “legacy of anti-LGBT behavior.”

The council voted 6-4 Thursday to approve a concession agreement for the airport that includes chains such as Smoke Shack BBQ and Boss Wood Fired Bagels and Coffee, provided it excluded a Chick-fil-A concept.

The vote came a day after Think Progress reported that newly released tax documents show the fast-food chain donated $1.8 million in 2017 to groups that discriminate against the LGBTQ community.

San Antonio Councilman Roberto Treviño said the council’s action affirms the city’s efforts to “become a champion of equality and inclusion.”

This goes to show how closed-minded liberals really are. They can’t even eat the food from someone who disagrees with them. It’s not like they treat you badly. Chick-fil-A is one of the top fast food companies in the U.S., and their service is impeccable. The workers are always kind and treat everyone fairly.

In a statement, Councilman Roberto Treviño said after the vote: “With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of equality and inclusion. San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we do not have room in our public facilities for a business with a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior. Everyone has a place here, and everyone should feel welcome when they walk through our airport.”

Chick-fil-A was quick to respond in a statement to USA Today: “We wish we had the opportunity to clarify misperceptions about our company prior to the vote. We agree with the councilmember that everyone should feel welcome at Chick-fil-A… In fact, we have welcomed everyone in San Antonio into our 32 local stores for more than 40 years.”

This is such a common misunderstanding. Now I don’t know exactly which organizations Chick-fil-A donated to, but I know one of them is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Does San Antonio think that people are actively using the FCA to do things hurtful to the LGBT community? They’re not. They’re a group of Christian athletes playing sports.
