Christian Baker Back In Court, You’ll Never Guess What For This Time
The Colorado baker who made headlines back in 2012 for refusing to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple’s “wedding” was in court once again earlier this week.
This time it wasn’t for that issue or refusing to bake a cake for another gay couple. This time it was over a refusal to bake a cake for transgender/gender transition cake.
The Daily Wire reports,
On Tuesday, the attorneys for Jack Phillips, the Colorado baker who would not make a wedding cake for a gay couple because of his devout Christian religious beliefs, lambasted the state of Colorado for continuing to target him for his beliefs.
The remarks in federal court by lawyers from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the organization that represents Phillips, the owner of the Masterpiece Cakeshop, were triggered by another case filed against Phillips, this time from a transgender woman who wanted him to create a cake celebrating his “gender transition.”
At this point, it has become blatantly obvious that he is being specifically targeted for his Christian beliefs. How obvious is it? This time the person targeting the Christian Baker, Jack Phillips, was a transgender lawyer.
The Blaze elaborates more on the details,
Last summer, Scardina called the bakery and asked for a cake that was pink on the inside and blue on the outside to celebrate the seventh anniversary of her gender transition.
Scardina’s request was made June 26, 2017, the same day that the Supreme Court agreed to hear Phillips’ case involving his refusal to bake a wedding cake for Charlie Craig and Dave Mullins in 2012.
On June 28, less than a month after the Supreme Court had ruled 7-2 in Phillips’ favor, Scardina filed the complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Commission citing she was discriminated against for being transgender.
The Supreme Court ruled that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission showed anti-religious bias in its sanctions against Phillips for refusing to make the gay couple’s cake.
The intolerance of the tolerance movement has become so disgusting that they’re purposely and maliciously targeting anyone who disagrees with their views and labeling them as bigots. This was an attempt at entrapment by the lawyer without a crime actually being committed.
As a business owner, a person has the right to refuse service to anyone they darn well please. It doesn’t matter if they’re black, white, purple, your mom, my dad, gay, straight, curved, or Martian. If that negatively impacts his business, so be it.
