The prominent news organization found itself in the midst of controversy recenlty when it had to withdraw a video from a well-known social media platform. The video, which received criticism as a ‘cheap fake,’ allegedly showed President Joe Biden wandering aimlessly during the G7 Summit in Italy last week. However, the White House maintained that this video was nothing more than a crude attempt to exacerbate the narrative that Biden is struggling with cognitive issues.

Karine Jean-Pierre, White House Press Secretary, dismissed such videos exhibiting Biden appearing confused or freezing as “cheap fakes” during a briefing. She voiced concerns about =these videos, stating that they are grappling with a “credibility problem.”

To give Joe a little help, CBS News chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes used the G7 footage as a prime example. She highlighted that numerous outlets suggested that the president was wandering aimlessly during a skydiving demonstration by world leaders.

There was just one problem, they digitally altered the video thinking nobody would notice and cut out the section when Biden started to wander aimlessly. People were poking fun at Biden because he was talking to the parachute people were mocking him because Prim Minister Giorgia Meloni had to bring him back to reality.

The organization later admitted the mistake in their video comparison. They announced the removal of the earlier version, clarifying that it included the incorrect video. The updated post now features the correct clip and label on the edited video.

Despite labeling the clip as a ‘digitally altered video,’ the shared version was identical to what the White House had circulated. Additionally, in the new video shared, the paratrooper was blurred out.

The videos are pretty clear, they show Biden’s increasing “freezing moments” and that he seems to wander off a bit. While the media and the White House may attempt to deflect or manipulate the narrative, it doesn’t change the fact that the raw video footage suggests otherwise.

Of course, let’s all remember what CBS let Dan Rather do, so why should we be surprised?
