A Vietnam veteran was killed earlier this month when he was hit by a drunk driver and the man fled the scene of the crime. What’s worse is that it was the day before Veterans Day. What’s even worse than that is that the killer was in the U.S. illegally.

Nemias Perez Severiano is a Mexican citizen who has been living in Norristown, Pennsylvania illegally and is the man charged with the death of Samuel W. Jackson.

Severiano hit Jackson as he was exiting his vehicle in front of his home and dragged him more than 50 feet down the road. Severiano told law enforcement that he had 8 beers before he got into his car to drive that night. He didn’t have a driver’s license either.

Sadly, Jackson died later at a hospital.

According to Fox News,

Severiano, a Mexican citizen, is suspected of striking Samuel W. Jackson, 67, as he exited his parked car in front of his Norristown home on Nov. 10 and dragging him more than 50 feet. Jackson died at a nearby hospital, The Philidelphia Inquirer reported.

Severiano is charged with being involved with an accident causing death while not licensed, failing to stop and render aid, driving without a license, and other offenses.

A criminal complaint said Severiano told police he consumed seven or eight beers in a restaurant and was “a little drunk” before the incident.

Jackson served with the Marines in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971. He was buried in his uniform.

Severino is currently being held on a $200,000 bond and was due to be in court last week. It is likely that he will be taken into ICE custody if bonded out.

This is just more incentive to hasten the building process of the border wall. We’ve got to protect our citizens from ignorant and careless people who don’t want to follow our laws.
