BREAKING: President Zelensky Ready to Agree to Some of Putin’s Terms to End War
In a recent poll, many Americans felt as though the war between Ukraine and Russia was going to be one that last for many months or even years.
Personally, I don’t think that this will be the case. I’ve been of the opinion that this will not be a long drawn-out war, but something rather short.
I honestly don’t think that Ukraine can withstand Russia for too long before everything is demolished and that there will not be anything else left to fight for. The Russian military have already established themselves to be ruthless and brutal even going as far as committing war crimes by killing innocent civilians in harsh manners like running over their cars with tanks.
Apparently, Ukrainian President Zelensky has opened up and is willing to agree to some of Russia’s terms in ending this war.
According to MSN, Moscow was demanding that Ukraine cease military action, change its constitution to enshrine neutrality, acknowledge Crimea as Russian territory, and recognize the separatist republics of Donetsk and Lugansk as independent states.
In another apparent nod aimed at placating Moscow, Zelensky said he is open to “compromise” on the status of two breakaway pro-Russian territories that President Vladimir Putin recognized as independent just before unleashing the invasion on February 24.
“I have cooled down regarding this question a long time ago after we understood that …NATO is not prepared to accept Ukraine,” Zelensky said in an interview aired Monday night on ABC News.
“The alliance is afraid of controversial things, and confrontation with Russia,” the president added.
I don’t know that this is the case with NATO. Is it really the fact that NATO is afraid of having Ukraine as a member because of the tension it would cause between NATO and Russia? Or is it something more along the lines of certain requirements must be in place in order to be a member and Ukraine just has not met those requirements? I tend to think it’s the latter, but maybe I’m just too optimistic. However, even if NATO didn’t want Ukraine as a member because of Russia, that may not even be a bad idea in reality because in doing so, they may be preventing a larger war.
