Biden Holds Bizarre, Rambling Press Conference in Vietnam

Joe Biden’s recent press conference in Hanoi, Vietnam, has left many people scratching their heads. The event, which was intended to showcase Biden’s leadership and diplomatic skills, instead turned into a confusing and rambling display that left the audience baffled. From awkward jokes to misplaced movie references, Biden’s performance left much to be desired.

The press conference began with Biden attempting to make a joke about the 1987 movie “Good Morning, Vietnam.” However, his delivery fell flat, and there was no laughter from the audience. He referred to the movie as a “song,” showcasing his confusion right from the start.

BIDEN: “Good evening, everyone. It is evening, isn’t it? This around the world in five days is interesting. Well, one of my staff members said, ‘Remember the famous song, Good Morning, Vietnam?’ Well, good evening, Vietnam.”

As Biden continued his address, it became evident that he was reading from a teleprompter. He even mentioned that he would only take questions from a pre-selected list of reporters. This scripted approach further diminished the authenticity of the press conference, making it seem more like a staged event rather than an opportunity for open and spontaneous dialogue.

During the Q&A session, Biden called on a Reuters reporter and proceeded to correct her pronunciation of the word “sincerity.” This unnecessary correction came across as condescending and patronizing, reflecting poorly on Biden’s ability to engage with journalists respectfully.

Furthermore, Biden used the derogatory term “the Third World” when referring to developing countries. However, he quickly corrected himself and replaced it with “the Global South.” While his intention might have been to use more politically correct terminology, the slip-up highlighted a lack of awareness and sensitivity.

Perhaps the most bewildering aspect of Biden’s press conference was his tendency to veer off topic and make unrelated references. At one point, he transitioned from discussing global warming to talking about a scene from a John Wayne movie. This sudden shift in subject matter left both reporters and the audience perplexed.

“Did you ever think you’d be sitting at a G-20 conference where everyone was preoccupied with the notion of global warming? Not a joke, did you ever think that?” Biden asked before launching into the John Wayne reference. He compared climate change skeptics to “lying dog-faced pony soldiers” from the movie, a comparison that seemed out of place and confusing.

Throughout the press conference, Biden struggled to find the list of reporters he was supposed to call on for questions. He openly expressed his confusion and frustration, even shouting, “I ain’t calling on you!” when reporters tried to interject and ask their questions.

The chaotic nature of this interaction further highlighted Biden’s lack of preparedness and organization. It gave the impression that he was not fully in control of the situation, undermining his credibility as a leader.

As the press conference drew to a close, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre abruptly interrupted and announced its conclusion. The sudden end, accompanied by loud jazz music, added to the overall sense of disarray and confusion that had characterized the event.

Biden’s press conference in Vietnam has received significant attention and criticism. The event, intended to showcase his leadership on the global stage, instead highlighted his confusion, rambling speech, and inability to engage with reporters effectively.

Critics argue that Biden’s performance raises questions about his mental acuity and ability to handle the demands of the presidency. The lack of coherence and the frequent tangents have only added fuel to the fire of those who believe he is unfit for the highest office in the land.
