Trump Demanding Migrants To Reimburse Government Who Took Welfare Programs
President Trump announced that he’s really taking things to an unprecedented level when it comes to keeping our country’s interests as the top priority.
It’s time for some people to pay back what was stolen from the hard working Americans in the United States.
USA Today reported,
President Donald Trump took another step Thursday to crack down on legal immigration, instructing agencies to enforce a 23-year-old law that requires sponsors of green card holders to reimburse the government for welfare benefits.
Trump approved a memorandum Thursday to enforce a pair of provisions signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1996, the White House said. The move comes as Trump has sought to overhaul legal immigration despite congressional resistance.
“To protect benefits for American citizens, immigrants must be financially self-sufficient,” Trump said in an announcement of the plan.
I don’t know why people can’t stop to recognize the problem here. We have people in our country that we are OBLIGATED to help. Our people, our country. We need to make sure we can meet their needs first.
Then and only then should we start working towards helping people who come here with wrong motives.
According to Breitbart,
The order signed by Trump will enforce existing 1996 laws known as the “Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act” and “Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act” which were signed by then-President Bill Clinton. The order ensures that federal agencies will enforce the existing 1996 laws which seek to save American taxpayers by having their public welfare funding benefits reimbursed when they are used by a legal immigrant.
The first function of the order mandates that a family member or business sponsor of a legal immigrant looking to permanently resettle in the U.S. is responsible for paying back the welfare costs previously used by that immigrant.
For example, if a visa holder has used $10,000 in food stamp benefits while living in the U.S., when a family member sponsors them for a green card, that family member will be notified of the legal immigrant’s welfare costs to taxpayers and obligated to pay back the amount.
This is a huge step in the right direction and we all need to support the President for his commitment to the people of the United States.
