How Sarah Palin Really Felt About Being “Disinvited” To Running Mate’s Funeral
For those who were unaware, Sarah Palin was not allowed to attend Senator John McCain’s funeral last year.
This came as quite the shocker to many because Palin was McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election.
Palin told Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain, “I was kinda surprised to be publicly disinvited to the funeral. I think that was an unnecessary step. They didn’t have to embarrass me and embarrass others. And it wasn’t just me, it was other good people in our campaign back in 2008 who were very very loyal to Senator McCain and worked with him and for him for many years and they weren’t invited to the funeral. That was all weird. I hope that doesn’t happen to other people. It’s unnecessary. It’s kind of a gut punch.”

At his passing, Palin tweeted a couple of messages about Senator McCain’s passing.
Today we lost an American original. Sen. John McCain was a maverick and a fighter, never afraid to stand for his beliefs. John never took the easy path in life – and through sacrifice and suffering he inspired others to serve something greater than self.

What’s even more telling about Senator McCain isn’t just that he didn’t invite her to his own funeral, along with many others, but that he wrote that he even regretted choosing her as his running mate.
According to Fox News,
According to reports, Palin learned she was not invited to the services through an intermediary, not directly from the McCain family.
A Palin family source, at the time, told NBC News that, “Out of respect to Senator McCain and his family we have nothing to add at this point. The Palin family will always cherish their friendship with the McCains and hold those memories dear.”
But last May, McCain published a book titled “The Restless Wave,” in which he wrote that he regretted choosing Palin as his running mate instead of his close friend, former U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut.
Amid all of this information and treatment, Palin has maintained her composure and acted very respectfully. We can be proud of her for that.
