House Speaker Nancy Pelosi officially revoked Vice President Mike Pence’s office space located on the House side of the United States Capitol Building.

The office was given to him by former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan when Republicans held a majority over the House of Representatives.

According to Fox News,

Pelosi has decided to revoke the honorary office that former House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., gave Pence on the first floor of the Capitol back in 2017, Fox News has confirmed. The move was first reported by National Public Radio.

The vice president, who serves as the president of the U.S. Senate and has an office on that chamber’s side, was given the House office shortly after President Trump’s inauguration in January 2017; it was a sign of goodwill between the House, then led by the GOP, and one of its former members. House Republicans did not give Pence’s predecessor, Vice President Joe Biden, an office on that side of the Capitol.

It is actually very rare that a vice president has an office on the House side of the Capitol Building at all. Vice President Pence does still retain his office on the Senate side of the Capitol Building.

NPR reported on the matter,

A placard above the door identifying it as Pence’s House office was quietly removed in recent weeks. A House Democratic aide confirmed to NPR that the space will be reassigned. “Room assignments are reviewed and changed at the beginning of every Congress,” the aide said.

The speaker has sole authority to dole out office space in the Capitol, which is prized real estate for members of leadership and senior staff. While Pelosi revoked Pence’s office privileges, the aide said she is providing new office space for the White House legislative affairs team that it did not previously enjoy under the GOP majority.

A spokeswoman for Pence has not responded to NPR’s request for comment.

She may be making some additional office space for Democrats wanting to try and impeach President Trump. Maybe they need room for various legal teams.

Mike Pence is a good man and I’m sure he’s not bothered by it at all.
