March Takes Place After Verdict
Monday night’s “Justice for Jordan Neely” protest in New York City took an unexpected turn as tensions flared within the Black Lives Matter crowd. What began as a unified demonstration over Daniel Penny’s acquittal quickly descended into infighting when a black woman interrupted the protest to deliver a scathing critique of the white activists present. Her fiery comments exposed the fractures within the movement and underscored the growing frustration among some black activists over the involvement of non-black allies.

The woman, who had attended Penny’s trial, directly addressed the predominantly white and masked activists gathered. “Stay the f**k outta black people’s business!” she declared, accusing them of co-opting the movement without addressing racism within their own communities. Her pointed remarks about “anti-blackness work” struck a nerve, with some protestors murmuring in agreement while others appeared visibly uncomfortable.

She didn’t hold back in criticizing white jurors, claiming they dismissed critical testimony from black witnesses. “They didn’t give a f**k about what they heard on the stand,” she alleged, asserting that Penny unjustly targeted Neely without provocation.
Her comments also reflected a broader skepticism of what she called “Marxist bullsht,” rejecting ideological frameworks she felt detracted from the immediate issues facing black communities. “Go in your own communities and correct this bullsht,” she repeated, emphasizing that outside voices often do more harm than good in these spaces.

As protests unfolded, BLM leader Hawk Newsome stoked tensions outside the courthouse, issuing incendiary threats in response to the verdict. “We need some black vigilantes,” he said, calling for retaliation against perceived oppression. Such rhetoric drew sharp criticism, particularly as other activists vowed to make the city “hear us f**king tonight,” signaling the potential for riots and violence.
