Teacher Fired Over Social Media Post
Annie Dunleavy, a 30-year-old special education teacher from Wallingford, Connecticut, recently resigned from her position at Chapman Elementary School after a profanity-laden, politically charged video went viral, sparking widespread backlash.
In the video, Dunleavy threatened Trump supporters, saying they would “end up on a stretcher” if they “tested” her. This outburst ultimately cost her the teaching job she had long dreamed of, as both parents and school officials voiced deep concerns over her statements.
Dunleavy explained that the video, initially intended for a private Snapchat channel, was recorded during a moment of “high emotion.” She now regrets posting it, acknowledging that her message was “hurtful” and came across very differently than she intended.
Dunleavy claimed her statements stemmed from a fear of potential violence against women if Trump returned to office, saying, “I will fight for myself, and if someone was to try to hurt me, I would protect myself.” But this reasoning did little to repair the damage, as her statements were interpreted as aggressive threats rather than expressions of self-defense.

Following the incident, Cheshire Public Schools Superintendent Jeff Solan emphasized that Dunleavy’s comments did not align with the values of the school district. “The comments on that video did not reflect the position of our school system,” Solan said. “Every student and family has the right to attend our schools free from the concern of political prejudice, let alone their safety.”
The Board of Education Chair, Samantha Rosenberg, echoed these sentiments, describing Dunleavy’s behavior as “reprehensible and unacceptable,” stressing that parents expect a politically neutral and safe environment for their children.
In the video, Dunleavy’s statements escalated quickly, using explicit language to express her anger toward Trump supporters. “Just because you won doesn’t mean we don’t remember who the [expletive] you voted for… please, please don’t test your gangster on me because you will end on a stretcher—gone, forever,” she said. She further directed Trump supporters to delete her from their contacts or “step to me, so that I know what’s up and I can handle you how I see fit.”
Despite the threats, Cheshire Police confirmed they would not be pressing criminal charges against Dunleavy. Nevertheless, the episode has stirred local outrage, with parents and community members expressing concerns over the example set by a teacher using such extreme language and hostility. For Dunleavy, the experience has been a painful reminder of the consequences of impulsive posts on social media, costing her both her reputation and her “dream job.”
