Habba Comments On Possible Position
Alina Habba, one of Donald Trump’s most visible and outspoken legal defenders, has officially withdrawn her name from consideration for the role of White House Press Secretary, a job that had her pegged as a top contender for the Trump administration’s media frontlines.
Known for her no-holds-barred approach with the press, Habba was seen as a natural fit for the role by many Trump allies, yet she took to X on Thursday morning to make it clear she’s focusing her energies elsewhere.
“While I am flattered by the support and speculation, the role of Press Secretary is not a role I am considering,” Habba wrote, adding, “Although I love screaming from a podium I will be better served in other capacities.”
Habba has been a loyal and vocal ally of Trump’s for years, often serving as his go-to attorney in high-profile cases and acting as a relentless “attack dog” against Trump’s critics.
Her loyalty and legal prowess made her a familiar face within Trump’s inner circle, and she joined his campaign as a senior adviser over the summer, helping steer the ship through one of the most turbulent election cycles in modern history.
Although it remains unclear what role she may take in Trump’s upcoming administration, her choice to step back from the press secretary race has left the door open for other Trump loyalists. Karoline Leavitt, the former campaign spokeswoman, is now widely considered the top contender for the job, although other names are still in the mix as Trump finalizes his cabinet and West Wing team.
Leavitt, known for her skill in handling media, would bring a youthful energy to the position, potentially aligning well with Trump’s approach of tapping loyal, battle-tested supporters for key roles.
Habba’s tenure as Trump’s attorney has not been without its challenges. She was brought on during a difficult period in 2021 to handle a flurry of lawsuits, including high-profile cases like E. Jean Carroll’s defamation suit, which resulted in an $83 million verdict, and the New York civil fraud case, where Trump was hit with a $454 million judgment currently under appeal.
Through these cases, Habba became a high-profile figure in the MAGA world, known for her willingness to defend Trump’s interests fiercely and unapologetically. She remains one of Trump’s most loyal allies, which has only strengthened her connection to Trump’s base.
