Stelter Gives Analysis On Harris Interview
Brian Stelter’s take on Kamala Harris’s interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier is a classic case of the media spinning a disaster into a triumph.
On CNN’s The Situation Room, Stelter claimed that Harris’s combative interview was “a sign of toughness and strength.” Really? Strength? Let’s be clear here: Harris didn’t answer the hard questions, she dodged them. And when she wasn’t deflecting, she was pivoting to Donald Trump, who—newsflash—isn’t even the president right now.
Stelter and his CNN buddies, like Alyssa Farah Griffin, want to pat Harris on the back for getting Fox viewers to “Google” what she said. But what good is throwing out talking points if you can’t back them up with facts?
Sure, she brought up General Mark Milley calling Trump a “fascist,” but what does that have to do with her failure to answer real questions about her own administration’s immigration policies or border failures? It’s like they’re hoping viewers will be distracted by Trump’s name being thrown around instead of focusing on Harris’s record—or lack thereof.
Meanwhile, Wolf Blitzer chimed in, calling her performance “impressive.” This is how low the bar has been set.
We’re supposed to believe it’s impressive because she stood there and deflected for half an hour? The media’s desperate attempts to paint this interview as some kind of victory are laughable.
Harris had an opportunity to show real leadership, to answer tough questions, and to be transparent about her administration’s policies. Instead, she fumbled her way through talking points, making it clear she’s more comfortable dodging questions than giving straight answers.
If this is what Stelter and CNN consider “toughness,” no wonder their ratings are in the tank.
NEW: CNN’s Brian Stelter says Fox News viewers are going to think Kamala Harris was super tough and strong after her interview with Bret Baier.
Stelter argued that Harris was using a “Google strategy” during her interview.
