Emhoff and Walz Make Appearances In Arizona
It looks like the Harris campaign is still struggling to get its act together, as yet another week of mishaps, awkward moments, and poorly thought-out strategies demonstrates just how disorganized they really are. Let’s start with the latest facepalm-inducing incident where Vice President Kamala Harris tried to take a shot at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over Hurricane Milton.
Harris accused DeSantis of ignoring federal help, hoping to paint him as out of touch, only for President Biden himself to swoop in and completely contradict her by emphasizing how cooperative and “gracious” the Florida governor had been. It was a textbook case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing, exposing just how chaotic and uncoordinated the Harris camp really is.
Then there’s the cringe-worthy coffee shop debacle in Arizona. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff stopped by Otro Cafe in Phoenix for a photo-op designed to show off their supposed connection to the everyday working American. Of course, the backdrop to this was Emhoff’s own checkered past, including credible allegations of slapping an ex-girlfriend in public—a story the mainstream media has conveniently decided to ignore while they dutifully play defense for the campaign.
But even if we set aside that bit of ignored scandal, the optics of what happened in Arizona were abysmal. Video footage shows Walz and Emhoff grabbing their coffees and walking off without paying, leaving the poor cashier scrambling to figure out if they’d be stiffed on the bill. The Minnesota governor’s daughter had to jump in to assure the staff that someone would eventually come back to settle up. I mean, nothing says “man of the people” like acting so out-of-touch you don’t realize that you actually have to pay for what you take. Maybe they’re just used to having their assistants handle those “little details” for them.
Sure, someone probably showed up later to pay the tab, but that’s beside the point. This isn’t how these photo-ops are supposed to go. The entire goal of stopping by a local coffee shop is to engage with workers, have a few relatable conversations, and maybe even leave a generous tip that shows a bit of appreciation for the people they’re claiming to represent. Instead, they treated it like a drive-thru without a bill. It’s amateur hour at its finest.
Tampon Tim and Doug went to a coffee shop, walked away from the counter without paying, and left Tim’s daughter to inform the cashiers that a handler will be coming to pay with a credit card.

And let’s not forget Harris’s latest attempt to win over voters by making the rounds on every left-wing podcast and talk show she could find. From backslapping with Stephen Colbert to showing up on “The View” and chatting with far-left figures like Alex Cooper and Howard Stern, the whole strategy seemed desperate.
Not only was Harris visibly unprepared for even the most basic questions, but her team’s decision to focus on these friendly venues rather than reaching out to a broader audience was a massive miscalculation. They’re preaching to the choir when they desperately need to be expanding their base.
The Harris campaign’s overall strategy is looking shakier by the day. It started with a “do-no-harm” approach, keeping her firmly scripted and on the teleprompter, hoping to avoid any gaffes that could derail her chances. But as the polls have started to slide, with Trump gaining momentum in crucial swing states, they’ve shifted to a more frantic, grasping-at-straws strategy that’s only producing more mistakes. The vice president’s performance in these poorly planned media appearances and campaign stops has done little to inspire confidence in her ability to handle the pressure of a national election.
As for the tag-team efforts of Walz and Emhoff, the whole approach seems tone-deaf at best. The idea that they’ll somehow appeal to male voters by “bro-ing around” the country is laughable. Newsflash to the Harris campaign: Most working-class men aren’t swayed by a couple of politicians awkwardly trying to look relatable while they fail to pay for their coffee. The image of these two awkwardly navigating their coffee run reinforces the perception of elitism and detachment from the struggles of average Americans. The “beta male” vibe isn’t exactly electrifying the base, much less winning over undecided voters.
