With the 2024 election fast approaching, Melania’s words were aimed squarely at voters disillusioned by Biden and Harris’ leadership. She framed the upcoming election as a choice between continued hardship or a return to what she characterized as more secure and prosperous times under Trump. “I think the American people need to decide what they really want,” she said, alluding to her husband’s sometimes controversial demeanor. “Maybe some strong tweets, but everything else great for this country.” The message was clear: put policy over personality.

The interview wasn’t just a political critique. It also took a personal turn as Melania recounted two assassination attempts against her husband, both within a two-month span. The first incident occurred at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire, grazing Trump’s ear.

The attack claimed the life of Pennsylvania fire chief Corey Comperatore and left two others wounded. Melania described the moment she realized what had happened. “I ran to the TV and I [rewound] it and I watched it,” she said, recalling the panic of seeing her husband on the ground. “When you see him on the floor… you don’t know what really happened.”

Just two months later, the former president faced another near-death experience at his West Palm Beach golf course when a gunman, Ryan Routh, was spotted with a firearm before Secret Service neutralized the threat. Melania, in New York at the time, quickly checked on her husband. She credited the Secret Service for saving his life in both incidents. “The guys, the team, they were fantastic,” she said, calling the incidents “miracles.”
