Lemon Deletes Social Media Post Responding To Video
Former First Lady Melania Trump is raising questions about the official account surrounding the attempted assassination of her husband, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, during a campaign rally this past summer. In a short but dramatic 30-second video posted to social media platform X on Tuesday, Melania expressed doubts about the narrative, claiming there’s “definitely more to the story.”
The event in question occurred on July 13, 2024, in Butler Township, Pennsylvania, when a gunman, Thomas Crooks, opened fire at a Trump rally. Donald Trump was injured, grazed in the ear by a bullet, while former fire chief Corey Comperatore tragically lost his life. Several others were injured before Crooks was fatally shot by the Secret Service. In the video promoting her upcoming memoir “Melania,” she questions the handling of the event, particularly why law enforcement didn’t apprehend the shooter beforehand.

“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience,” Melania says. “Now the silence around it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder, why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech? There is definitely more to this story, and we need to uncover the truth.”
The timing of her statement has raised eyebrows, as it was posted just hours before Donald Trump was set to debate Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, in Philadelphia. CNBC reached out to Trump’s campaign for comment, but no response has been issued yet.

The Secret Service, already under intense scrutiny for its handling of the situation, has been criticized for not stopping Crooks before the tragedy unfolded. According to Pennsylvania State Police Col. Christopher Paris, Crooks had drawn attention by “milling about” near the rally site and acting suspiciously. Police observed him with a range finder before he climbed onto a nearby rooftop, where he fired the shots. It was only when a Butler Township police officer spotted Crooks on the roof that the gunfire erupted.
Despite efforts by the Secret Service and law enforcement, the fatal shots had already been fired. The Secret Service’s then-director, Kimberly Cheatle, resigned just 10 days later after facing a grilling by Congress over the agency’s failure to prevent the attack. Members of the House Homeland Security Committee harshly criticized the Secret Service for its missteps, and Cheatle’s resignation was seen by some as a response to the intense political and public pressure.
Melania Trump’s video not only reignites the conversation about what happened that day but also adds a layer of intrigue, suggesting there may be hidden elements to the story that have yet to come to light. Her memoir, set for release in October, is likely to delve deeper into the incident and the emotional toll it took on the Trump family.
