WH Previews State Dinner
Given the fact that Red Lobster is filing for bankruptcy how much do you think a lobster dinner would cost these days?
Probably an arm and a leg.
Well, take a look what First Lady Jill Biden is bragging about.
She gets to throw a wonderful lavish dinner to whine and dine guests and is bragging about it.
Jill Biden has announced that country star Brad Paisley will be performing when she and President Joe Biden host their biggest state dinner yet on May 23. This grand event is being held in honor of Kenyan President William Ruto and his wife, Rachel, with 500 guests attending. The dinner will take place in a glass pavilion on the South Lawn of the White House, offering stunning views of the stars and the Washington Monument.
The Bidens are pulling out all the stops for President Ruto, especially after President Biden didn’t keep his promise to visit sub-Saharan Africa last year. During his visit, President Ruto will lay a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery, have a meeting in the Oval Office, participate in a joint press conference, and meet with tech leaders. But the highlight of his visit will be the state dinner. Guests will be escorted to the South Lawn at sunset to dine in a beautiful glass pavilion, surrounded by over 1,000 candles and adorned with sequined tablecloths and 15,000 pieces of reflective metallic strips suspended above.
Folks, they are so giddy about this that they actually held a media event to brag about it and posted it on Youtube.
The dinner menu will include lobster, short ribs, and chilled tomato soup. Event planner Bryan Rafanelli, who has planned other state dinners and Naomi Biden’s White House wedding, said he draws inspiration from the first lady’s fondness for candlelight. He hopes the candlelight and sparkling decor will brighten everyone’s day.
After dinner, guests will enjoy performances by Brad Paisley and the Howard University Gospel Choir, chosen to reflect the Rutos’ love of country and gospel music. This visit marks the first time since 2008 that the U.S. has honored an African nation with a state visit, highlighting the importance of Kenya’s relationship with the U.S. It is also the sixth state dinner of the Biden administration.
Kenya’s visit comes as the country prepares to send forces to Haiti as part of a U.N.-led effort to address the security crisis there. About 1,000 Kenyan police officers are expected to arrive on the island soon, along with forces from other countries including the Bahamas, Barbados, Benin, Chad, and Bangladesh.
The U.S. is also using this visit to strengthen ties with Kenya amid growing Russian and Chinese influence in Africa. China is Kenya’s biggest creditor, and debt relief will be on the agenda when Biden and Ruto meet. Additionally, Russia has been trying to expand its economic and military influence across Africa.
Remember this next time you go checkout at the grocery store and go out to eat.
