‘It’s Shameful’: Former FBI Agent Sounds The Alarm After Arrest Of Biden Bribery Informant
Former FBI Agent Kaplan has raised concerns following the arrest of Alexander Smirnov, the informant at the center of the Biden bribery allegations. Kaplan labeled the arrest as “shameful” and emphasized the credibility of Smirnov, despite the charges against him.
Smirnov stands accused of lying to FBI agents regarding payments allegedly made by Burisma executives during 2015 and 2016. His recent arrest in Las Vegas has stirred controversy, with Kaplan firmly rejecting any notion of exoneration for the Bidens.
Kaplan expressed disbelief at the handling of Smirnov, stating, “It’s embarrassing, and it’s not a time at all for the Bidens to take a victory lap.”
He suggested that the charges against Smirnov were anticipated, indicating, “my colleagues and I knew at that point that informant was going to be sacrificed.” Kaplan dismissed the idea that discrediting Smirnov nullifies the evidence against the Bidens, insisting, “We still have a treasure trove of evidence.”
Highlighting Smirnov’s long-standing relationship with the FBI, Kaplan stressed the credibility associated with being on the agency’s payroll. He argued, “You do not stay on the books with the FBI unless you have been vetted and you are credible.”
Despite prosecutors’ claims that Smirnov’s interactions with Burisma executives occurred after Joe Biden’s tenure as vice president, Kaplan remained skeptical, maintaining belief in the existence of substantial evidence linking Hunter Biden to his father.
The indictment against Smirnov, filed by Special Counsel David Weiss, was part of a broader investigation initiated by Attorney General Merrick Garland. Weiss has also brought separate charges against Hunter Biden for gun and tax-related offenses. Despite these developments, Kaplan reiterated his concerns about the FBI’s handling of the informant and the implications for the ongoing investigation.
