According to a letter from Jordan, “On August 24, 2023, the Committee on the Judiciary wrote to you requesting documents in the custody of the FCDAO relating, in part, to its receipt and use of federal grant funds issued by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).” He added, “Since that date, we have sent two additional letters, on September 27, 2023, and December 5, 2023, reiterating our requests. To date, you have failed to comply voluntarily with any of our requests.”

In response to Willis’s refusal to accept the subpoena electronically, U.S. Marshals were dispatched to hand-deliver the documents to her in person. This decision has sparked criticism, with an anonymous source quoted by the Daily Caller questioning Willis’s reluctance to accept service and deeming it a wasteful use of taxpayer resources. The source exclaimed, “Why wouldn’t Fani Willis just accept service like everyone else? Making the U.S. Marshal’s Service use taxpayer money to do this is a complete waste of time and resources. But we shouldn’t be surprised when it comes to her office.”
