‘Caught on Hot Mic’: Joy Reid Slams Biden for ‘Starting Another War’
MSNBC’s Joy Reid found herself in hot water after a hot mic captured her unfiltered frustration with President Joe Biden, accusing him of “starting another f*cking war” during Monday’s broadcast of “The Reid Out.”
Attempting to shift blame onto Republicans for the border crisis, Reid played a video clip of Biden discussing shutting down the border. She accused Congressional Republicans of taking undue credit for successful Democratic policies while neglecting the needs of the American people.
President Biden had signaled readiness to take action on the border crisis if Congress demonstrated commitment to resolving the issue. Reid played clips of Biden stating he would immediately close the border if the proposed legislation were law today, to which she off-camera remarked, “starting another f*cking war.”
The abrupt cut in audio left Reid’s sentence hanging, redirecting blame toward former President Trump for the legislation’s delay. Later in the broadcast, Reid issued a brief apology to viewers, acknowledging her candid comments during the clip and expressing regret for any offense caused. She emphasized the show’s commitment to maintaining a PG-13 rating.
Currently, the Senate is embroiled in negotiations over a bill that could trigger a “mandatory shutdown” if more than 5,000 migrants are apprehended at the border.Under the latest version, migrants arriving after the 5,000-person limit is reached would be ineligible for asylum and would face immediate removal. This policy would persist for two weeks until daily encounters fall below 3,750.
President Biden emphasized that the proposed legislation would grant him “emergency authority to shut down the border” until it regains control. He asserted that if the bill were law, he would promptly close the border to address the situation. Reid’s use of the term “war” likely alludes to the White House’s response to a drone attack in Jordan, resulting in three service members’ deaths and injuries to dozens more.
