‘Oppressed’ Hollywood Actress Cries After Only Being Paid Millions
Well, folks, grab your tissues and prepare for a sob story. It seems Hollywood’s glamour and glitz aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. At least, not for Taraji P. Henson, who recently let the waterworks flow during an interview with Gayle King. And what’s got her so upset? Apparently, she’s underpaid. The actress known for her roles in “The Color Purple” and “Empire” feels she isn’t getting the big bucks she deserves.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m all for equal pay and opportunities. But let’s put things into perspective here. We’re talking about an industry where the “underpaid” are still raking in more dough than the average American could dream of earning in a lifetime. Is it really that tragic?
During the interview, Henson lamented about the pay disparity between black and white actors, expressing her frustration over the financial struggles faced by her and her team. Now, I’m no expert, but if you’re struggling financially while starring in hit TV shows and movies, maybe it’s time to reevaluate your spending habits?
And apparently, the struggle is so real that Henson is even considering quitting acting. I mean, imagine the horror! No more red carpets, no more designer gowns, no more adoring fans. How ever will she survive?
This isn’t the first time Henson has voiced her dissatisfaction over her salary. She previously griped about her pay for the film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Look, I understand that Hollywood isn’t immune to the systemic issues that plague other industries. But when you’re crying over your seven-figure salary, it’s hard for the average Joe to feel much sympathy. Especially when they’re working their tails off just to make ends meet.
So, here’s a thought. Instead of shedding tears over your Hollywood paycheck, why not use your platform to shed light on real issues? Like the fact that there are hardworking Americans out there who can’t afford to put food on the table or keep a roof over their heads. Now, that’s a story worth crying about.
In the end, it all boils down to this: Hollywood isn’t always a fairytale. But let’s not pretend it’s a tragedy either. After all, the math might not be “mathing,” but it’s still a whole lot more than most people will ever see.
