Kim Jong Un Issues New Threat to US for Christmas
Alright, folks, gather round. It’s time for another thrilling episode of “What’s Kim Jong Un Up To Now?” Spoiler alert: it involves missiles. “Dear Leader” Kim Jong Un decided to flex his muscles a bit this week. How, you ask? By launching an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that could potentially reach any part of the U.S.
According to North Korean state outlets, Kim celebrated the country’s “overwhelming strength” following the launch and even went as far as to say that the missile launch proves he has options against aggression from Washington, D.C. Well, isn’t that just peachy?
Now, I’m no rocket scientist, but it seems to me like Kim is trying to send a message here. He’s basically saying, “Hey, look at me! I’ve got big, scary missiles and I’m not afraid to use them!” But that’s not the first time he’s done something like this.
The Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea, in true dramatic fashion, described the launch as “a powerful warning measure” under the grave situation. They even threw in some year-end drama by stating the hostile forces’ anti-DPRK military threat is getting even more undisguised and dangerous at this moment of year-end December.
But wait, there’s more. The missile, which apparently has the capability of traveling more than 9,300 miles, flew for 73 minutes before landing in an area west of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. That’s right, folks. This missile could potentially reach the mainland U.S. Cue the dramatic music! South Korea, meanwhile, criticized the launch as a “clear violation” of U.N. Security Council resolutions.
In all seriousness though, this situation is no laughing matter. It’s clear that tensions are escalating on the Korean Peninsula, and it’s crucial for world leaders to keep a close eye on things.
After all, as Kim Jong Un has so eloquently demonstrated, actions speak louder than words. And when those actions involve ICBMs, well, let’s just say it’s probably a good idea to pay attention.
