GOP Senator Says He’s ‘More Concerned About Another 9/11 Attack Than Ever’
The current situation on the U.S. southern border has raised serious concerns about the potential for terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, with Senator Lindsey Graham expressing his worries about the possibility of another 9/11-like event. In a recent interview on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Graham discussed the ongoing negotiations between the U.S. Senate and the White House regarding a border package. He emphasized the urgent need to address the border crisis, citing the testimonies of FBI Director Christopher Wray, who warned about the vulnerabilities at the border that could be exploited by terrorists.
During the interview, Senator Lindsey Graham expressed his deep concerns about the current state of the U.S. southern border, highlighting the potential threat it poses to national security. He emphasized that the conditions at the border have him more worried about the possibility of a terrorist attack than at any other point since the devastating events of 9/11. Graham cited the alarming testimony of FBI Director Christopher Wray, who pointed out the “blinking lights everywhere” indicating the possibility of a terrorist attack facilitated by the porous border.
Senator Graham pointed out that the policies implemented by the Biden administration have contributed to the deterioration of border security. He highlighted the staggering number of individuals crossing the border, with six million people coming since January 2021 and an additional 3.6 million expected to arrive this year alone. The Biden administration’s policy choices, according to Graham, have made the border a dangerous place and put America at risk. He also noted that jihadist groups have expressed their intention to attack the United States due to its support for Israel.
Senator Graham emphasized the need for a comprehensive solution to the border crisis, rather than settling for temporary band-aid fixes. He criticized the White House’s recent supplemental proposal, which he deemed insufficient in terms of changing policy and effectively addressing the border security challenges. Graham expressed his disappointment with the lack of progress in negotiations, stating that he does not believe a deal will be reached by the end of the year.

Despite the lack of a breakthrough in negotiations, Senator Graham expects talks to continue into the new year. He highlighted the delayed engagement of the White House, stating that they only joined the discussions five days ago. This delay, according to Graham, has further hindered progress towards a resolution. He stressed the importance of fixing the border, especially given the warnings from the FBI Director about the potential for terrorist attacks.
