Bill Clinton RIPPED Hillary’s 2016 Campaign with Brutally Honest Line
Oh boy, looks like Bill Clinton has some choice words about Hillary’s 2016 campaign. And let me tell you, they are not pretty. According to a new book by The Intercept’s Ryan Grim, Bill Clinton reportedly said that Hillary’s 2016 campaign staff “could not sell p**** on a troop train”. Now that’s a burn if I’ve ever heard one.
So, what’s the story here? Well, apparently Bill Clinton was not too impressed with the “egghead” staffers who were advising his wife during her run for the presidency. He felt that they didn’t understand the value of in-person campaigning and were too focused on identity politics. Classic case of too many cooks in the kitchen, am I right?
When Bill suggested focusing on Midwestern states like Michigan, his advice fell on deaf ears. And we all know how that turned out. Trump ended up winning Michigan by less than half a percentage point. Talk about a close call!
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the tensions within Hillary’s campaign. Journalists Amie Parnes and Jonathan Allen highlighted similar issues in their 2017 book “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign”. They reported that Bill Clinton thought the campaign staff didn’t really understand politics or persuasion.
Despite her loss in 2016, Hillary has been tapped to aid Joe Biden’s reelection effort. She’s already held a fundraiser that raised close to $1 million for Biden’s campaign. But given the recent polls, it seems like Biden might be heading for a similar fate as Hillary in 2016.
All in all, it seems like Bill Clinton saw the writing on the wall for Hillary’s campaign. And his brutally honest assessment of the situation is a stark reminder of the importance of understanding your audience and the value of in-person campaigning. Thankfully, nobody listened to him otherwise we’d likely be in a far worse predicament right now.
