Senator Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, reportedly lost his cool during a classified Senate intelligence briefing on Ukraine. Why, you ask? Well, apparently, some of his Republican colleagues had the audacity to bring up security at the U.S. southern border. The nerve! In a meeting attended by top Biden administration officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Senators Kevin Cramer and Tom Cotton dared to ask about something that affects us right here at home: our border security.

According to reports, Cramer had the audacity to ask if supporting Ukraine and Israel was important enough for Democrats to consider supporting some southern border security. The question made Schumer go “nuts.” I mean, heaven forbid we talk about our own national security in a meeting about…well, national security.

Schumer accused his Republican colleagues of being disrespectful and trying to “hijack” the meeting. Apparently, questioning the effectiveness of our border security is a no-no in Schumer’s book. But wait, there’s more! Schumer also pointed fingers at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for allegedly derailing the conversation to the border crisis.

Yet, the cherry on top was when Schumer accused his Republican colleagues of getting “stuck” when he suggested they could propose an amendment to address the border crisis. Oh, the irony!

Interestingly, Senator Angus King, who usually sides with the Democrats, agreed that discussing the border crisis was indeed legitimate. Meanwhile, Republicans are pushing the Biden administration to do something about the border crisis while Biden seeks more funding for Ukraine. You know, because securing our own borders isn’t as important as helping another country secure theirs.

House Speaker Mike Johnson hit the nail on the head when he criticized the Biden administration for failing to address Republicans’ concerns about Ukraine and continually ignoring the catastrophe at our border. So, there you have it folks. In the world of politics, discussing border security during a national security meeting is considered disrespectful and a hijack attempt. But hey, who needs to secure our borders when we can just argue about it in meetings, right?

It seems like our politicians are more interested in political posturing than actually solving the problems at hand. But what do I know? I’m just a concerned citizen who thinks securing our borders should be as important as helping other countries secure theirs.
