Gen Z: The Generation of Terrorist Sympathizers?
In a distressing revelation, an alarming number of Gen Zers in America are showing sympathy towards terrorist organizations and their brutal actions. This unsettling trend is being viewed as a direct consequence of the current education system that seems to propagate postmodern cynicism, anti-American propaganda, and racial resentment.
A recent Caps/Harvard poll has highlighted some shocking statistics. While 59% of Gen Zers admitted that Hamas is a group of brutal killers, 51% still justified the horrific killing of innocent Israelis due to Palestinian grievances. This sympathy for a known terrorist organization and the justification of violence against innocent people is a cause for concern.
The anti-Jewish sentiment among Gen Zers is growing, with some even venerating Osama Bin Laden. Disturbingly, Bin Laden’s “Letter to America” is gaining popularity on platforms like TikTok, with many young adults claiming that it has led them to understand how terrorism can be justified as a tool of resistance against Western power.
Worldviews matter. The sympathy for violent terrorists is rooted in a radical worldview that rejects truth, vilifies America, and condemns the free-market system. As Voltaire once said, “Surely whoever can get them to believe absurdities can get them to commit atrocities.”
History has shown us that it doesn’t take a majority to destroy a nation. It requires only the activation of an outraged minority and the acquiescence of the rest. This pattern was witnessed during Hitler’s regime and Mao’s cultural revolution in China.
Gen Z’s beliefs are increasingly leaning towards rejecting absolute truth, embracing cancel culture, feeling ashamed of America, and rejecting religion. These beliefs make them susceptible to propaganda from those who wish to overturn Judeo-Christian civilization. As G.K. Chesterton pointed out, when people stop believing in God, they don’t believe in nothing, but that they will believe anything.
The rise in anti-Jewish bigotry is more than just a geopolitical struggle. It is a spiritual battle. Attacking God means attacking the Judeo-Christian worldview that values humans because of God. Jews are an ever-present reminder of this, which is why every anti-God movement seeks to destroy them.
To combat this growing trend, parents, educators, and pastors must play their part. They need to reinforce the value of every human life, the importance of non-violence, and the benefits of the Judeo-Christian worldview. They also need to equip the young generation with the ability to differentiate between propaganda and persuasion.
It’s time we remember the lessons from history and replant the seeds of truth once more.
