Host Announced for Next Republican Debate on December 6
We’ve now made it through three GOP debates and there is still more to come. NewsNation revealed it will host the next Republican primary debate. The event, scheduled for December 6, will feature Sirius XM podcast host Megyn Kelly as one of the three moderators.
Megyn Kelly is no stranger to the political debate stage. She has previously moderated five GOP primary debates, demonstrating her ability to handle high-pressure situations and ask hard-hitting questions. Joining her on the moderating panel will be NewsNation host and Peabody Award winner Elizabeth Vargas and Eliana Johnson, editor-in-chief of The Washington Free Beacon.
NewsNation’s decision to host the debate marks a significant milestone for the network, further solidifying its place in the media landscape. The event is set to air exclusively on NewsNation and The CW Network, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. An encore presentation will also be available for viewers in the western time zones at 7 p.m. MT and 8 p.m. PT. The debate will additionally be live-streamed on NewsNation’s website and Rumble.
Sean Compton, Nexstar’s President of Networks, addressed the news in a letter to NewsNation staffers. He emphasized the network’s commitment to delivering ‘news absent bias’, a mission that has been maintained since the network’s inception. This achievement reflects the dedication of the network’s team and their commitment to serving unbiased news to their audience.
Compton also praised the work of leaders Michael Corn and Cherie Grzech, crediting them for NewsNation’s selection as the host for the final Republican primary debate of 2023. This opportunity serves as a testament to the network’s growing importance and impact in the media landscape.
According to a Reuters report, the fourth debate will set a higher entry bar for candidates. All candidates must receive at least 6% support in two national polls — or 6% in one national poll and 6% in one state-wide poll in one of the key early voting states: Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, or Nevada. Additionally, they must have at least 80,000 donors — and have 200 or more donors from each of 20 states or territories.
The upcoming GOP debate promises to be an engaging and insightful event, with Megyn Kelly and her fellow moderators leading the way. It will undoubtedly provide valuable insights into the perspectives and policies of the Republican candidates vying for nomination in the next election.
