Antifa Thugs Ordered to Pay Journalist $300,000 for Infamous “Milkshake” Attack
In a significant victory for independent journalist Andy Ngo, three members of Antifa have been ordered to pay him $300,000 in damages for an alleged assault that occurred in 2019. The defendants, Katherine Belyea, Madison Allen, and Sammich Overkill Schott-Deputy, were found liable for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, despite their absence in court.
Ngo accused the trio of orchestrating a mob attack on him during a June 2019 protest in Portland. He claimed they assaulted him by hitting him over the head with a sign and throwing milkshakes at him, which were suspected to contain quick-drying concrete. Ngo, who captured the incident on video, suffered a brain bleed and was hospitalized as a result.
After the defendants failed to respond to the charges and did not show up in court, Ngo was awarded the full amount of damages he sought. Each of the defendants was ordered to pay $100,000. Ngo expressed his relief and described the ruling as a small vindication after the traumatic experience he endured. He also emphasized that he fought not just for himself but for others who have been victimized by the actions of Antifa.
Andy Ngo rose to prominence for his on-the-ground coverage of Antifa, documenting their tactics and livestreaming protests. He authored the book “Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Plan to Destroy Democracy,” which further exposed the movement’s activities. Ngo, a Portland native, took it upon himself to provide unbiased and comprehensive reporting on the political violence unfolding in his city, as he believed the legacy media failed to do so.
Ngo’s victory in this lawsuit brings him a sense of vindication, as he continues to fight for justice for those victimized by Antifa. He emphasized that his pursuit of justice was not only for himself but also for the countless others who have suffered at the hands of this extremist movement. Ngo’s lawsuit serves as a reminder that individuals can hold accountable those who engage in unlawful acts and inflict harm on others.
While Ngo is satisfied with the settlement, he acknowledges that collecting the awarded amount may prove to be challenging. Antifa members often lack substantial assets, making it difficult to enforce financial compensation. However, Ngo remains determined to pursue the funds, as he believes it is essential to hold individuals accountable for their actions.
