According to a recent CNN poll, Joe Biden’s favorability rating has hit the lowest point of his presidency, dropping by eight points in the last six months. The drop in his approval rating may be due to ongoing investigations into allegations that he accepted a $5 million bribe from a Ukrainian oligarch. His approval ratings decreased from 40 points in January to 35 points in May and then further to 32 points in June.

In January 2021, Joe Biden had a high approval rating of 59 points. However, after being in office for a few months, he issued orders for the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, which turned out to be deadly, and signed spending bills that contributed to inflation reaching levels not seen in 40 years.

In the summer of 2022, Biden’s approval rating dropped to 36 points. However, it increased to 42 points by December 2022, after the Biden administration lifted or defeated many pandemic restrictions.

After the House Republicans won the midterm elections and gained control of the chamber, they initiated an oversight investigation targeting Joe Biden. The investigation later revealed that three members of the Biden family had received a total of $1.3 million from a Chinese energy company via a Biden associate two months after Joe Biden had finished his term as vice president.

In May, it was reported that the Biden family business had received a minimum of $10 million over a span of multiple years from business ventures in China and Romania in exchange for what seems to be influence peddling. The payments were made to a total of nine Biden family members, including two of Joe Biden’s grandchildren.

In June, the FBI provided Congress with an informant document that alleged Joe Biden accepted a $5 million bribe from Ukrainian oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky. According to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the document said Zlochevsky kept 17 audio recordings of his conversations with Joe and Hunter Biden as an “insurance policy.”

According to a recent poll conducted by CNN from June 13-17 with a margin of error of 3.4 percent, a significant majority of voters (83 percent) think that the FBI should make public its informant file regarding the bribe. Also, more than half of the voters believe that Joe Biden did actually accept the $5 million bribe.
