Trump Dominates the Field in New Survey
According to a recent survey from Yahoo News/YouGov, former President Donald Trump is leading all potential Republican challengers, not only in a group hypothetical, but also head-to-head. The survey showed that Trump is ahead of a group of Republican challengers, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott, anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, by 28 points.
Among Republican voters, Trump is ahead of DeSantis by 24 points with 55 percent of the vote, while DeSantis has 31 percent. Trump’s lead becomes even larger when competing against Scott, who joined the presidential race in May. Trump is leading with 69 percent of the vote, while Scott has only 18 percent, creating a difference of 51 percent.
In a direct challenge against Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence only holds 16% of the support compared to Trump’s 73%. Similarly, Nikki Haley has 18% support while Trump has 70% support among Republicans. Another potential presidential candidate, Chris Christie, is rumored to announce his bid next week but currently only has 10% support compared to Trump’s 77%.
According to the survey, if Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin were to go head-to-head with Trump, the former president would be ahead by 62 points.

In the group survey conducted from May 25-30, 2023, among 1,520 U.S. adults, no candidate came close to the former president in terms of support. DeSantis had 25 percent backing, which was 28 points behind Trump’s 53 percent support. The other potential candidates received three percent support or less. Two more potential candidates are expected to join the race next week, and after much speculation, Pence is expected to announce his candidacy at a rally-style event in Des Moines, Iowa, next Wednesday.
According to reports, it is expected that Christie will announce his presidential candidacy next Tuesday in New Hampshire.
