Jussie Smollett “Attackers” Reveal Hoax Details
In a recent interview, the Osundairo brothers opened up about the infamous hate hoax orchestrated by Jussie Smollett that they had aided him in crafting. Abimbola reflected on the situation, saying “When I was getting off the plane, the customs agent was checking everyone’s passport, and when they got to me, they pulled me aside.
Two big-a** police officers came up – I was like d**n, it’s over with. They got me.” Olabinjo further elaborated on their involvement in Smollett’s scheme as well as their motivations for going along with it: “He wanted to be the poster child for activism…He wanted to be the hero for gay people, for black people.”
In an effort to increase his own star level, Smollett falsely accused two men of attacking him in an altercation that involved racist and homophobic slurs. His remarks received widespread support from national Democrats before law enforcement officials discovered the truth of his elaborate hoax. Judge James B. Linn subsequently noted, “[Smollett] threw a national pity party for himself” and speculated that his ultimate goal was to become more famous by manufacturing a hate crime against himself.
The brothers noted that while Smollett never explicitly stated what his motives were, he instead focused on manipulating them into helping him carry out this charade by lying about what he said happened to him. Abimbola also commented on how differently people would have reacted if Smollett had claimed he was attacked by someone black or Muslim instead: “A lot more [people] would have supported [me] much more…like if I had said it was a Muslim or Mexican or someone black.” He felt betrayed by his former friend’s actions and shared that he was both hurt and confused in the aftermath of discovering this horrible lie.
Back in June 2023, Smollett finally addressed his deceptive behavior during an interview after being convicted of filing false police reports; he insisted that every word he spoke during his initial interview with ABC’s Good Morning America was true despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. He has since faced immense criticism from those who believed him initially and are now outraged at how far-reaching lies can be used to manipulate public opinion.
