CPAC Straw Poll Reveals Real Leader of GOP
Former President Donald Trump emerged victorious once again in the annual conservative CPAC straw poll, held this year at the Gaylord resort in Fort Washington, Maryland. Trump received an overwhelming 62% of the vote from more than 2,000 attendees, besting runner-up Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by a stunning 40 points. This is the third consecutive time that Trump has won a CPAC straw poll for 2024 nominee.
Michigan businessman Perry Johnson placed a distant third at 5%, followed by former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley and venture capitalist Vivek Ramaswamy with 3% and 1%, respectively. Senator Rand Paul (KY), Senator Ted Cruz (TX) and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo all got 1% of votes each.
47-year old New Jersey resident Joseph Belnome, who attended CPAC, told the New York Post he voted for Donald Trump because of his experience in office and his track record as president. “DeSantis is a good governor,” said Belnome,”but I don’t think it’s his time yet – Trump has to finish what he started there.”
In the vice presidential candidate straw poll, former Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake was the most popular choice with 20%, while DeSantis came second at 14%.
Some of the other names on the list who received less than one percent of the total vote were: Tucker Carlson, Tim Scott, Larry Hogan, Glenn Youngkin, Mike Pence, Liz Cheney, Marco Rubio, Kristi Noem, Ben Carson, Kari Lake, Chris Sununu, John Kennedy, Greg Abbott, Tom Cotton, Rick Scott, Chris Christie, and John Bolton. I can’t believe that Liz Cheney actually received votes. These must have come from some Democrats who snuck into the event because no logical and reasonable Republican would ever vote for a RINO like Liz Cheney. Honestly, the same goes for some of these others.

I think we should take most polls with a grain of salt, but I think we can boldly say that when someone is dominating the polls like this, it’s a pretty good sign that this is the one who we want.
