Kamala Harris Defiles Declaration of Independence…Leaves Out God and Right to Life
Kamala Harris made a speech on Sunday to mark the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, omitting God and the right to life in her quote from the Declaration of Independence. In her address to a crowd of abortion activists in Tallahassee, Florida, she only mentioned the rights to “liberty and the pursuit of happiness” as a part of America’s promise. She then claimed aborting unborn babies for any reason without limits is a “fundamental right” which was followed by a ruling by The United States Supreme Court last June that overturned Roe.
Harris’ omission of several key phrases from the Declaration of Independence is telling: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The American founders listed the right to life first because life is the most fundamental right of all. Without it, no other right can exist. Since their decision to overturn Roe, 14 states have begun protecting unborn babies from abortion and more are fighting in court to do so, resulting in an estimated tens of thousands already saved lives due to pro-life laws passed in those states.
Two recent polls demonstrate an uptick in public support for legal protection for unborn babies. A Marist College poll found 69 percent of Americans support limiting or banning abortions up from 62 percent just four months prior in June, while UMass Amherst also recorded a 5-percent drop in favorability towards making abortions legal nation-wide and 6-percent increase in support for a national abortion ban (as reported by WCVB News).
In light of this data and growing public opinion surrounding the subject it is clear why Kamala Harris chose not mention God or recognize “the right to life” when quoting The Declaration of Independence, as it goes against her pro-abortion position. Republican commentator Matt Whitlock said it best when he wrote on Twitter: “when ‘right to life’ blows up your message so bad you have to pretend it doesn’t exist then maybe your message isn’t very good”. It is essential we respect all individuals’ inherent rights and recognize how precious each human life truly is – born or unborn.

The ambiguous nature of Harris’ words could also be seen as an attempt to erase any inkling of guilt or shame associated with abortion, something she called “the constitutional right, a fundamental right, a basic freedom from the people of America”. But whether or not one agrees with Harris’ opinion on reproductive rights, it is difficult to deny that abortion carries moral implications for both sides, something her speech failed to recognize.
This is what we can expect from the party of death. This is what they’ve become at this point. They can’t even recite the Declaration of Independence accurately because it messes with their liberal agenda.
