MUST READ: House GOP Release Counter-Report to Jan. 6 Committee’s Report
Folks, I’ve got some bad news. What happened at the Capitol on January 6th was a complete and utter disaster, and it could have been prevented. The whole thing has been under investigation for nearly two years now, but the full story is finally coming out.
It looks like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office and other House Democrat leadership were more concerned with conducting partisan politics instead of protecting the safety of members, staff, and Capitol Police (USCP) officers. According to a new report, information was only shared with Republicans by USCP Sergeant at Arms Irving after he received instructions from Pelosi’s office.
But with the release of the J6 Committee’s report, comes a counter-report from the Republicans as well.
The Epoch Times reported,
A group of five House Republicans on a shadow committee released a report on Wednesday with key findings about security failings they say were ignored by the official Democrat-led House Jan. 6 committee.
The report focuses on “why the Capitol was left so unprepared” on Jan. 6, 2021, when protests turned violent, and the U.S. Capitol building was breached.
The GOP group’s key findings point to alleged failures by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Democrat leadership, and the U.S. Capitol Police. This includes claims that Republicans were intentionally excluded from security conversations by then-House Seargent at Arms Paul Irving at the direction of Pelosi’s office.
The GOP’s framing will likely contrast with the panel’s soon-to-be-released final report, which is expected to focus on former President Donald Trump.
Moreover, USCP line officers were reportedly undertrained and ill-equipped to protect the Capitol complex that day. Even if every officer had been on duty then, they still wouldn’t have had enough training or equipment to hold off the rioters. And shockingly, there are signs that USCP collects information about private citizens who meet with members of Congress without security purposes in mind! It’s outrageous!
In response to all this and the J6 Committee’s sham, Republicans launched their own investigation into what happened on January 6th alongside an official inquiry conducted by a well-resourced panel with subpoena power. The GOP probe relied on open-source documents and voluntary interviews from key witnesses – many of whom were USCP sources who spoke under condition of anonymity due to fear of reprisal from higher-ups – as well as testimonies from USCP Chief Tom Manger, current House Sergeant at Arms William Walker, and Julie Farnam.
What’s worse is that five House Republicans nominated by Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to join the bipartisan Jan. 6 panel were blocked by Pelosi. McCarthy then withdrew his nominees in response. Of those two Republicans who did serve on the panel, Reps Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, they were actually censured by members of their own party for their participation! It’s really sad when you think about it, but if that’s how they are, they need to kick them out of Congress anyway!
