Democrats have been on a mission to get a hold of President Trump’s tax returns for many years now.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out what it is about his tax returns that they want to see so badly. Do they want to see that there is a smaller amount of money that’s small enough for them to say that he’s not a billionaire? Do they want to find something about them that points to him lying on his taxes?

Well, I don’t think that they’re going to find any dirt because his businesses are likely audited every single year. When you’re that big of a company, they want to make sure that you’re paying every single penny so the government can blow it on stupid stuff.

Just when the Democrats finally thought that they had his tax returns in their grasp, Chief Justice John Roberts stepped in and put a hold on the matter while President Trump takes it up with the Supreme Court to see if it’s even legal for them to do so.

According to The Hill,

The Supreme Court on Tuesday temporarily halted a House panel from accessing the tax records of former President Trump ahead of their expected release.

The move, which comes in response to an emergency request Trump filed on Monday, was ordered by Chief Justice John Roberts, who handles emergency matters arising in the District of Columbia. Roberts requested a response by Nov. 10.

The latest development comes after a lower court cleared the way for the House Ways and Means Committee to obtain the records of Trump and his businesses from the Treasury Department as part of a long-running legal battle.

I don’t think that his tax returns will prove anything. Everyone has tax write-offs and if he’s legally able to write off most of the income that his businesses generate, then good for him!
