US Gives Update on Sabotage of Nord Stream Pipelines
The world is still wondering who it was that sabotaged the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, because it is going to cause a lot of hardship for the world. Directly, it will affect Europe, but indirectly it’s going to affect the United States as well because we’re going to be the one who end up coming to their rescue.
There is plenty of speculation as to whether or not the United States had anything to do with it, because well, Joe Biden basically said that he would screw up their pipeline if they invaded Ukraine. Russia invaded Ukraine.
However, Bret Baier pressed National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications, John Kirby, on whether or not the United States bears any responsibility for the act. He claims that we had nothing to do with it, but also he suggests that Russia may have been the ones and sabotaged their own pipeline.
“That’s just Russian propaganda and disinformation,” Kirby claimed. “Now, we know it was an act of sabotage, but there’s an investigation going on right now. I don’t think we’re going to get into credentialing that in terms of who was responsible. We’re going to let the investigators take a look at that. But, clearly, this was an act of sabotage.”
Baier pressed Kirby again on the matter after playing a clip of Secretary of State Antony Blinken saying that the destruction of the pipeline was “a tremendous opportunity to once and for all remove the dependence on Russian energy, and thus to take away from Vladimir Putin the weaponization of energy as a means of advancing his imperial designs.”
Baier then pushed Kirby more and asked him why Russia would attack their own pipeline. Having their own pipeline gives Russia a lot of leverage over Europe.
“Again, I can’t speak to specific accountability for this act of sabotage,” Kirby responded. “I can just assure you the United States had nothing to do with it, of course. That’s just Russian propaganda. And look, we’re — again, without — without crediting it to anybody right now, what I would say is, just look at what Russia has done in the past since the last seven months of this war and when it began, and that is to weaponize energy.”

Here’s the thing though, even if the United States sabotaged the pipeline, they wouldn’t admit it. So, in my opinion, this means nothing.
There is still a chance that it was Ukraine and if you ask me, there is still a chance that it was the United States. It may not have even been a direct act, but it may have been paid for by the United States.
