FDA Forced to Issue Dire Warning Against Latest TikTok Challenge
Sometimes there are things that I see that people are doing that really just makes you wonder how on earth people have become so stupid.
Seriously though, it’s not uncommon for me to look at what’s going on in the world and think to myself that we’re living out a real life version of the movie “Idiocracy”.
If you’ve never seen the movie before, it’s about a U.S. Army librarian who takes part in a government hibernation experiment. The experiment goes awry, and Joe awakens in the year 2505, on a dystopian world dumbed-down by mass commercialism and mindless TV programming, to find that he is the smartest person on the planet.
The people who are living in that day are seriously dumb. But it honestly resembles some of what we’re seeing today. The sad thing is that this movie was made back in 2006.
So, what am I even talking about? Well, the FDA has determined that it is necessary to warn people to quit cooking their raw chick in…get this…cough syrup!
The Daily Wire reported,
The warning was prompted by a new social media trend in which people record themselves cooking chicken in NyQuil for online clout. The FDA calls the challenge “silly and unappetizing” and “very unsafe.” It can also produce toxic fumes.
“Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication’s vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs,” says the FDA.
Why on earth would someone think that cooking chicken in cough syrup was a good idea?
From what I can gather, it’s some sort of trend on social media again. I don’t know what it is about these social media trends, but it seems like they all involve doing something stupid, dangerous, or illegal. We’ve gone through the eating of Tide Pods which led to poisoning, the choking challenge which led to brain damage and death. The condom challenge which risked people drowning or asphyxiating. The fire challenge where people would light themselves on fire and severely burned themselves. The outlet challenge where people plugged a phone charger in partially and then used a penny to make contact between the two prongs.
There are so many more that I could talk about like the skullbreaker challenge, the hot water challenge, the condom snorting challenge, etc., but I think you get the point by now.
The moral of the story is that youth today is stupid.
