Isn’t It Ironic? Electric Car Runs Out of Battery…Guess Who Came to the Rescue?
On Friday, Randy Smith, a state senator for West Virginia who represents Tucker County, went on social media to share an ironic story of an electric car that ran out of battery at the entrance to a coal mine.
Smith reported in his email that the following happened “today at our mine off Corridor H: an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine.”

It was reported by Breitbart that the group who came to the rescue was comprised of five coal miners. Smith praised the generosity shown by the coal workers and said:
“This just shows you coal miners are good people and will go out of their way to help anyone, friend or foe,” he continued, “I’m honestly glad they ended up where they could get some help because they couldn’t get a tow truck to come and this is out in the middle of nowhere.”
An electric vehicle ran out of juice on a road in West Virginia. Thankfully for the driver, there was an ironic group that came to the rescue – five coal miners. Randy Smith – a Republican member of the West … (Latest news at https://t.co/EGO0zsqUhM) https://t.co/VMSOltpBQs

Smith mentioned that the vehicle was stuck in the middle of the road, so the coal workers had to move quickly so as not to obstruct traffic. Since the bottom of the car was made entirely of plastic and there was nothing for the tow truck to hook up, the coal miners pushed the vehicle up the road to the mine so they could assist the traveler by charging his or her electric vehicle. This is also why proper electric vehicle care is so important before you take it out on the road.
Smith made a humorous remark on the fact that the driver from Washington, DC was given a license plate by one of the people who helped him that stated “Friend of Coal” so that he could take it home with him as a parting gift.
