Our government is notorious for wasting money. Every single year, Rand Paul releases a report detailing some of the ridiculous spending that Congress does.

Rand Paul is a man who is an actual fiscal conservative and was able to actually return money back to Kentucky in the past.

He also has plans to balance the federal budget withing just a few years by reducing spending by a mere 6%. That’s all that it would take. I seriously doubt that Democrats will take that proposal seriously, because they need their frivolous vacations with crab, lobster, and steak.

But I digress. What I really want to point out now is that fact that $863 million of stimulus payments went to prison inmates.

Sorry, but they don’t need stimulus checks. We shouldn’t give criminals free money. Heck, we shouldn’t be giving anyone free money.

According to The Epoch Times,

Department of the Treasury data released by U.S. Rep. Ted Budd (R-N.C.) reveals that at least $863 million in Economic Impact Payments (EIP) under President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan went to more than 597,000 incarcerated individuals in 2021.

“Nearly 600,000 incarcerated individuals receiving upwards of $1 billion is a disgrace to hardworking taxpayers of North Carolina. What’s most appalling is that every Senate Democrat voted to allow these payments to prisoners on March 6, 2021,” Budd said in a June 10 statement making the information public.

“I firmly believe that taxpayer money should never be sent to individuals who are serving in federal prison for truly evil crimes like murder, terrorism, and rape,” he said. “Each and every taxpayer dollar is sacred and should be treated that way. The Biden administration needs to take responsibility for this massive misuse of taxpayer funds and Congress must hold them accountable.”

I’m with Budd on this one. Why would we send that much money to murderers and rapists? That makes zero sense whatsoever. Obviously, nothing will be done about it because I’m sure it was right there within the stimulus packages that Congress passed so they knowingly did this. And I don’t have to wonder who it was that put it in the bill to begin with.
