Over the past two years, we have seen a massive overreach by Governors and Mayors of various states and cities all in the name of public safety.

The biggest pattern for this abuse is that practically all of these abusive orders have come from Democrats in charge. You might find an outlier and come across a Republican who may have made a bad decision and later stopped enforcing it, but by-and-large it has been the Democrats using this as a way to flex their muscles.

Well, New York Governor Kathy Hochul has gotten off to a bad start as the new governor and already she’s getting put in her place by those who have the ability to do so.

The New York Supreme Court has struck down her mask mandate for schools and public areas.

Judge Thomas Rademaker said regarding the ruling:

“There can be no question that every person in this State wishes, wants and prays that this era of [C-V-D] ends soon and they will surely do their part to see that is accomplished. However, enacting any laws to this end is entrusted solely to the State Legislature. While the intentions of Commissioner Bassett and Governor Hochul appear to be well aimed squarely at doing what they believe is right to protect the citizens of New York State, they must take their case to the State Legislature.”

Hochul’s mask mandate was “violative of the State Administrative Procedure Act as promulgated and enacted and therefore null, void, and unenforceable as a matter of law,” the judge wrote, adding that it was also “violative of the Public Health Law as promulgated and enacted and therefore null, void, and unenforceable as a matter of law.”

Hochul said that she was just doing her job as Governor to protect the people of New York through the health crisis.

She can say that, but it’s not her job to mandate that people do something that violates their freedom. It’s obviously not her job because the New York Supreme Court laid the smack down on her mandate.

We do not want a nanny state. We do not want the government taking care of us. We just want a fair and even playing field to take care of ourselves and our families.
