Last month, China made an announcement that could have had the potential to be an amazing discovery.

They found something on the dark side of the moon and they wanted to go investigate.

According to The Daily Wire,

China has dispatched a lunar rover to investigate a mysterious cube-shaped object that has been spotted on the dark side of the moon.

“The strange white object appears oddly geometric against the stark black horizon in images and prompted scientists from China’s Change 4 mission to send its Yutu 2 rover on a two- to three-month journey to check it out according to Our Space,” reported the New York Post.

China’s National Space Administration (CNSA) described the unknown object as a “mysterious hut,” while others called it the “mystery house.”

When I first wrote about this last month, I said that if you were to ask me what it was, I said that it was either a rock or a boulder and not some sort of building from another civilization.

I really don’t know what China was expecting to find, but they did find out what it was.

As it turns out, the mystery hut that is on the dark side of the moon is…a rock. Just like I said.

According to CNET,

Once again, Andrew Jones, a journalist who covers the Chinese space program for SpaceNews and Space.com, alerted me to the latest rover team update with a tweet on Friday, describing the conclusion to the saga as “so underwhelming it’s brilliant.”

It turns out the cube-shaped “hut” is a small lumpy rock sitting on a crater rim. It just happened to look much bigger and more mysterious in the rover’s first image. After getting closer and getting some perspective, the rover was able to reveal the object’s true nature.

So once again, another huge waste of resources if you ask me. Thankfully, it wasn’t our own government this time, but this would be something that they would do. They would spend millions of dollars to go look at a space rock that doesn’t have anything to do with our day-to-day lives at all.
