Liberals Throw a Tantrum Over Jury Selection in Murder Trial of Black Man Killed by Three White Men
The media and the left are once again throwing a fit about jury selection for someone. This time it’s the case of the three men who are being charged with the death of Ahmaud Arbery.
15 individuals for the jury, 12 of them are the juror, plus three alternates. Of those 12 people, 11 of them are white and one is black. This is why they’re made. They feel that is should be more equal. But that’s not how jury selection is done. It’s not based on race.
I guess I can understand why people make an uproar about stuff like this, but it’s really just out of ignorance of how the process works.
It’s not as though the judge or some set secret group of people decide who is going to be on the jury and that they are deliberately trying to make sure that the jurors are all white so that it helps the defense. What really happens is that the attorneys on both sides have equal say in who gets selected. If one of the attorneys has an objection to one of the individuals, then they are dismissed and not selected for that panel.
If race were really a factor in the eyes of the attorneys they would simply dismiss them, but obviously it’s they’re not concerned about that. Don’t think that they’re ignorant of this idea. This is their profession and they know what they’re doing.
In fact, what if the opposite were true? What if there aren’t more people of color on the jury because they showed too much bias? The media and the left want to portray white people as a tight-knit group who sticks together right or wrong, but as a white man, I can say that this is definitely not true. If a white person does wrong, a white person does wrong.
While many conservatives felt that Derek Chauvin was innocent of the murder of George Floyd, I have believed that he was guilty in accordance with Minnesota law. It was a clear as crystal to me.
But why does that give people confidence in the system of electing non-biased jurors? It should, they all rendered a guilty verdict and they did it in a very short amount of time. This is with a mostly white jury.
