Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all three counts that were brought against him.

For some, this was a relief. For others, they believe that he was innocent and that he is only being treated this way because of Black Lives Matter and Antifa threatening to burn cities once again if he’s not convicted.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison believes that George Floyd was “treated with particular cruelty” and that the “Defendant continued to maintain his position atop Mr. Floyd even as Mr. Floyd cried out that he was in pain, even as Mr. Floyd exclaimed 27 times that he could not breathe, and even as Mr. Floyd said that Defendant’s actions were killing him.”

As it turns out, Judge Cahill agreed with prosecutors in an order filed on Tuesday, finding that “Chauvin abused his authority as a police officer when he restrained Floyd last year and that he treated Floyd with particular cruelty,” per the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “He also cited the presence of children when he committed the crime and the fact Chauvin was part of a group with at least three other people.”

The judge added that Floyd was restrained, in a “prone position” for an “inordinate amount of time.”

“The prolonged use of this technique was particularly egregious in that George Floyd made it clear he was unable to breathe and expressed the view that he was dying as a result of the officers’ restraint,” Cahill said in his order.

As I’ve stated before, I watched the entire trial and I agree that Derek Chauvin was guilty on all accounts and that this is consistent with the law.

So what does this mean? Well, it means that he could be facing a stronger sentence than the 12 1/2 year recommended sentence. It’s possible that he could be sentenced to between 15-30 years in prison, but it’s unlikely that it would be any more than that.
