[Black Man Point of View] What Exactly Has BLM Achieved?
Perhaps one of the most polarizing topics of the past year, Black Lives Matter is still yet to find middle ground with its critics. This is perhaps due to a host of elements that will make most people; black, white, brown or green, skeptical. On the surface, Black Lives Matter sounds like an absolutely unifying body but as you dig deeper, one cannot understand what exactly one is supporting. Now, before this is tagged as racist by our friends on the left, it’s important to note that the author is as black as can be. This affords him enough social justice bandwidth to question the activities of a group that allegedly claims to be for the advancement of the black race in America, and worldwide . Now that my victimhood has been established, let’s jump right into the business of the day. What exactly has Black Lives Matter achieved? After scouring the Internet for these “achievements”, I have collated a series of answers from mainstream media and we will examine them one by one. Shall we?
Has Black Lives Matter increased awareness on the issues of black people in America?
Yes, it has. The Black Lives Matter movement has hugged the headlines for the past year and has even gone as far as affecting major policies across the world. In the English Premier League for example, players were required to kneel before games, before an audience of over a billion soccer fans. This is absolutely awesome if you overlook the actual problem. When I see Black Lives Matter content online, it basically screams “I’m oppressed by Whitey.” Now it’s very important to acknowledge some of the actual injustices faced in some of these incidents however we need to ask; is this really the problem? The entire Black Lives Matter movement rides on the wave of racism as it lies that the problem of the black man is the white man. When in reality, the problems of African Americans have shifted from outside to within. Take the riots last summer for example. Numerous businesses were trashed, looted and even burned when Black Americans trooped out enmasse to show solidarity for George Floyd. Side note, these very same people think Ben Carson is not good enough to represent the black community. – deep sigh – They destroyed the livelihoods of so many black families and even killed a black police officer named David Dorn. What was Black Lives Matter doing at this time? Colluding with current VP Kamala Harris to free these maniacs from cells and unleash them back onto the streets for more mayhem. Black Lives Matters sells an idea of oppression when in reality they are quick to swing the same pendulum when given the chance. This makes one ponder; is Black Lives Matter fighting for racial freedom or racial power?
Have racial tensions reduced since the introduction of the group?
Obviously not. For an organization that’s supposedly fighting for the betterment of the black man in America, Black Lives Matter sends the worst kind of signal to the public. An organization roped in riots and violence while labelling an entire demography as RACISTS. How on earth is this supposed to help black people? That’s not all. The organization is famous for planting seeds of racism when they call for more and more policies that only scream segregation! Black schools. Black opportunities. Black power. Black Lives Matter. All these make the idea of “unity” impossible. How do we plan on defeating racism and racial injustice when our foundation is built on prejudice?
Have the lives of black people become better with the activities of the group?
This is also a no. The Black Lives Matter group is yet to champion anything tangible for the people they claim to represent. All the group has done is defund the police that black people need so much thanks to all the internal shootings that Black Lives Matter pretends does not exist. Who’d have thought that DEFUNDING THE POLICE was a bad idea? I mean, surely there’s no way anyone could have envisaged this. The group has at least succeeded in removing a bunch of statues and ruined Football for everyone. Ruined Aunt Jemima. Removed Apu from the Simpsons. This is ridiculous. The Black Lives Matter has made the black man’s grief a cash box while offering next to nothing in return. The group has despite all attempts to bully, done nothing to add value to the lives of African Americans. Instead they yelled at the top of their voices when people like Kanye West and Ice Cube decided to take the plight of the black man to President Trump. They cried and bullied rapper Meek Mill from addressing major issues with the former President leading one to question, what exactly do Black Lives Matter want?
Black Lives Matter on a neutral level does not inspire confidence and is a stark contrast to social justice warriors like Martin Luther King. Where King sold love, Black Lives Matter sells resentment and violence. You’re told that your problems are not your doing and encouraged to lash out at your oppressors to balance the equation. In a world that has seen its own fair share of violence, deciding to toe the same line of violence only breeds hatred and victim hood. Have we come far from Harriet Tubman? Yes we have. Is America becoming an even more equal space for all? Yes. Is there still racism, of course. But will fighting and burning down neighborhoods while banning and erasing everything we deem racist change anything?
Obviously not but don’t tell the people at Black Lives Matter.
