79-Year-Old Man Nurses Best Friend Back to Health, You Won’t Believe Who His Friend Is
Sometimes it’s good to have a feel-good story to read.
With all of the political stuff going on in the world, everyone has become to polarized and all we get is negative news.
As someone who writes on politics every day, I can say that the news is really depressing at times. That’s why I thought you would appreciate this.
We occasionally hear of stories of amazing stories of people taking care of one another through difficult circumstances. That may be husband and wife, boyfriends and girlfriend, siblings, or even best friends. But one man took it to a whole new level in caring for his best friend.
Honestly, you would think this is something you’d find in a Disney movie, but it’s a true account of a friendship that knows no bounds. 79-year-old Hiroyuki Arakawa has been friends with Yoriko for nearly 30 years and became friends almost immediately.
Oh, the one thing I forgot to mention…Yoriko is a fish. to be exact, Yoriko is an Asian sheepshead wrasse, which if I’m being perfectly honest, is quite an ugly fish.
On one dive when Arakawa was visiting, he noticed Yoriko’s mouth had been badly injured. Even so, she came to greet him.
Realizing she’d be unable to catch her own food, Arakawa spent the next 10 days hand-feeding Yoriko meat from crabs he hammered open for her near the submerged temple gate.
Thankfully, Yoriko bounced back from her injuries fairly quickly. After her recovery, the bond between the pair seemed to grow even stronger.
“I’m not sure if it’s the nature of the kobudai or not. It’s probably because there is a sense of trust between us. I guess she knows that I saved her… that I helped when she was badly injured. So for me to be able to do that, I am proud,” Arakawa told GBS. “I have an amazing sense of accomplishment in my heart.”
I’ve got to say that this is at least a touching tail of a friendship that is definitely unique and it’s great when people help animals.
