School District Forces to Apologize After Assigning Children Graphic Sex and Violence Novels
Once again we are presented with another reason that we should all be pulling our children out of the government-run public school system.
School district in Texas is now having to apologize to parents after teachers assign students books that contain inappropriate content for them to read.
As part of a new English language arts curriculum at Leander Independent School district which is North of Austin Texas students were given the opportunity to choose books from a particular list and then they were to read the book and complete an assignment on it.
However, parents were severely caught off guard when they learned what sort of material was on this list.
Just to give you an idea of some of the books that were on this list, Out of Darkness by Ashley Hope Perez was on the list and this book contains a scene that describes a plan concocted by a group of boys to gang rape a girl.
“Take her out back, we boys figured, then: hand on the titties; put it in her coin box; put it in her cornhole; grab a hold of that braid; rub that calico,” one passage reads.
Another book on the list which is a graphic novel titled My Friend Dahmer is about Jeffrey Dahmer, the serial killer who ate his victims and even had sex with him.
In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado, on the 12th-grade book club list, describes an abusive homosexual relationship between two women and includes extremely graphic sex scenes with BDSM themes and the use of sex toys as well as frequent foul language.
These books are definitely inappropriate and have no business being assigned to students as part of a school curriculum. If these are books that they want to read on their own and have their parents consent to do so that’s fine that’s another story but for this school themselves to assign this material is unacceptable.
Here we are canceling Dr. Seuss but letting them read books about rape, murder, and cannibalism.
