Opinion: Democrats Lie To Their Own Voters About Immigration
Perhaps the greatest trick performed by the Democratic party has been convincing their voters that open borders and uncontrolled immigration is a good thing.
To be clear, I am not anti-immigration. I think it goes without saying that most of us and our families originally immigrated to the US from another country. However, most of that immigration was done during a time when the country was much less populated.
I also think modern immigration is a good thing when it is properly managed. I am not opposed to people moving to or from any country. But every country has a right and requirement to enforce immigration and to do what is best for its existing citizens.
But the idea that this country, or any country, can somehow continue absorbing immigrants without any negative consequences is simply insane. Let’s be realistic. There are currently (and pre-covid) millions of Americans without a job. There are millions of American children that lack decent education because they attend overpopulated schools. There are millions of Americans without adequate food, clothing, or housing.
So while Americans sit around and share a pie that millions of existing Americans don’t even get a piece of, there is an entire political party arguing that we should continue with unchecked immigration and welcome even more people to the table.
And the ultimate irony is that the majority of the people already not getting a piece of the American pie typically vote for Democrats. These are the “black and brown” communities that the leftist media goes on and on about. These are the people that are earning minimum wage and barely getting by. They vote blue because they want more government handouts.
It’s also a known fact that the majority of immigrants, especially those from south of our border, are coming here to work low paying jobs that don’t require a lot of skills or education. There’s nothing wrong with that, except there are already not enough of those jobs for existing Americans.
The basic rules of ‘supply and demand’ indicate that as more of these workers enter our country, they will keep wages low for Americans because they are willing to work for less. Companies won’t pay more than necessary for their labor, so they hire more immigrant workers and more American-born citizens lose their jobs and/or have slower wage growth.
It’s very simple. If someone works in a job that does not require specific skills, experience, or education, then their most aggressive competition for work comes from low wage immigrant workers. The immigrant will work for less money and the American will be filing for unemployment.
To many people, it’s obvious that Democratic politicians are creating laws that will lead to immigrants stealing the jobs of many existing Democrat voters. And of course, these immigrants will likely return the favor by voting Democrat every chance possible.
But what about the American born citizens that are losing their jobs or making less because of immigration? Whether they believe it or not, Republicans are standing up for them.
Will they finally wake up and start voting for the party that seeks to regulate and manage immigration so that it benefits everyone?
